Launch Easydiag 3.0 is the last modification of the Easydiag series which was created for common car enthusiasts.
The scanner will be able to read errors in the electronic blocks (engine, automatic gearbox, ABS, SRS, etc.), reset them and display the operating parameters of nodes and units in real time.
With this functionality, a car enthusiast without any experience in diagnostics can use the device without fear of doing something wrong.
But, as with previous versions: Easydiag 1.0, Easydiag 2.0 (as well as Mdiag, Golo Easydiag, Idiag and other dbscar connectors from Launch) you could not only open all brands, but also make the functionality of the professional X431 Pro3.
Software protection
Throughout 2017 Launch introduced protection for Easydiag 2.0, and sellers on Aliexpress raised prices. The price for Easydiag rose from 35 USD to 200 USD and above. With each new protection it took time to unlock. There were problems even with the official application after adding protection: the scanner simply did not work.
Easydiag 3.0 has received a new level of protection, with which the adapter firmware failed very often even when used in an official software. When this happened, the sellers did not react to it in any way and did not solve the problem.
For normal operation of the scanner, a method of programming by “uploading” stable firmware into Easydiag has appeared. The adapter had to be disassembled and flashed with the ST link programmer unit and then the scanner started to work as required.

Mechanical protection
As many car enthusiasts say: the most reliable protection against theft is mechanical protection. So Launch decided not to spend money on another development, but went a simple and effective method of mechanical protection.

The first thing the manufacturer did was filling several programming points. At the same time, the process was complicated by the fact that while clearing the programming space, it was possible to rip some element off the printed circuit board. But still, the programming went on and everything worked fine.
The second is filling all programming points. Filling was made between the case and board elements, which created a rigid connection between them. This resulted in damage to the printed circuit board already during the disassembly of the adapter.
Conclusion
Today you can only buy Easydiag 3.0 or 3.0 plus if you want to use it in the official software for your personal use. If you are an advanced car enthusiast and you need advanced features, you will have to consider the full set.
Launch ceased to produce adapters such as the Idiag and Mdiag, with which the car enthusiast could enjoy full functionality on a personal car without buying all car brands. We hope that Launch will release such scanners again.
